Was it not for these woolly little creatures we wouldn’t have a story to tell … the story of Hermanuspietersfontein, however, is fact, not fable. Overberg farmers of the early 1800s preferred their children to be schooled in Dutch, a forerunner of Afrikaans. They paid farm teacher Hermanus Pieters in sheep, which grazed at a spring under the Milkwood trees near the sea. In 1855, long after his passing, the village was founded in his honour, only for the postmaster in 1902 to shorten the name to Hermanus. 150 years later we relive the past by naming our cellar brand Hermanuspietersfontein and decided a sheep should tell our modern-day tales. In memory of Hermanus Pieters and the passion of the people of the 1800s, we committed our wine names and labels to be exclusively Afrikaans.

3x Kleinboet 2021

• A Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
• 24 months maturation in 600L oak foudre.
• On the nose expect bright red and purple fruit such as raspberries and blueberries, savoury notes, dried origanum and rosemary.
• A generous offering from entrance to finish on the palate. Supple and full without over-saturating the palate with tannin.
• Aging potential of 5 years and beyond, provided the wine is stored under optimum conditions.
• Pair with various meat dishes such as rack of lamb, beef fillet, or venison steak.
• Varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Franc
• Alcohol by Volume: 13.15%

3x Skoonma Shiraz 2020

• Skoonma... "The one lady everybody loves and nobody's jealous of."
• Matured for 24 months in 600L French oak Foudres.
• Black olive, cinnamon, violets, leather and fynbos spice on the nose, with hints of rosemary, thyme and mint.
• The palate has a round, supple structure with good fruit spice, smooth tannin with a lingering finish.
• Aging potential of 7 years and beyond, provided the wine is stored under optimum conditions.
• Pair with rich creamy cheeses, or your favourite red meat dish.
• Alcohol by Volume: 13.2%
